Removing the butt stock is done differently depending on the manufacturer. Please follow their instructions on removing the butt stock.

The Beard Saver comes out of the packaging ready to go. Once the butt stock has been completely removed, slide the Beard Saver on the buffer tube directly with the smaller end going first towards the muzzle direction.

Finally, simply reattach the butt stock to the buffer tube and stretch the larger end of the Beard Saver over the butt stock until half of the Beard Saver is on the buffer tube and the other half is on the butt stock.
